A Trauma Informed Care Approach for Churches and Chaplains
This faith-based course is an excellent introductory course to psychological first aid and effective emotional trauma management based on biblical truths. This course is open to all people of faith in all ministries, especially caring and leadership ministries, such as pastoral leadership, pastoral care, chaplaincy, youth ministry, missions, disaster relief, healthcare, therapy/social work, prayer ministry. Etc.
The main points discussed are those that explore the importance of being self-aware of our personal and unique ways of responding to distress in 5 main areas; what effective self-care truly is; and how to implement the necessary holistic practices to create Godly balance and resilience in our lives. Then from that position of health and personal discipline, we learn how to minister to others in crisis.
With activities and role plays, we explore how to identify stress responses quickly so that appropriate steps can be taken immediately to mitigate the causes and symptoms of distress and/or acute emotional trauma, allowing for faster and more effective recovery. This is a great introductory crisis management course for a wide audience.
