Part of our calling at Father’s House is walking in emotional healing. No matter how long a believer has been following Jesus, there will always be areas that Jesus wants to heal and restore. Our counseling ministry has been key in that process, and we encourage all believers to seek growth in all areas of life. Some of the goals of our counseling ministry include:

  • Providing a safe place of confidentiality for you to share your struggles
  • Equipping you to believe and accept the spiritual and emotional healing power of Jesus
  • Equipping you with the tools necessary to live a healthy Christian life
  • Equipping you to counsel others after you’ve grown through your own healing

Areas of Biblical Counseling:

  • Life Crisis Counseling

Short- or long-term counseling to help you through any crisis situation
  • Marriage and Family Counseling

  • Prophetic Counseling

We often refer counselees to professional Christian counselors when our schedules are too full to take on new clients.

Questions & Answers

  • What is Biblical Counseling and how is it different from regular counseling?

Biblical Counseling is counseling based on the Scriptures. Our counselors come alongside fellow believers to help them get a biblical perspective about difficult situations.
  • Who does the counseling?

Our counselors are sensitive and caring members of the church. They volunteer their time to help you apply Christian life-management skills. They are not recognized or licensed by the State of California as professional counselors but are trained biblical counselors. Many have been through circumstances that are similar or maybe even worse than your own. Usually, you are assigned a team of two counselors who will work with you on a regular basis.
  • How do I apply for the biblical counseling program?

You can obtain a Counseling Application from the church office secretary. Please see or email the church secretary for a copy. There may be a waiting period before counseling begins, so please be patient.
  • When and where will I meet with my counselors?

You will meet at the church counseling room or at one of our pastors’ offices once a week at a regularly scheduled time. The sessions last from 1 to 3 hours depending on your situation and the type of counseling you are receiving. All sessions are completely confidential, and your privacy is of utmost concern to the counselor.
  • Is there a fee for counseling?

Because this is a ministry of our church, and not a professional, licensed counseling team, we do not charge for our counseling services. We want it to be available and affordable for all of our members. Therefore, no fee is accepted.
  • How can I become a part of a counseling team?

Contact Pastor Susan Gaddis and she will explain the process of training for all team members. We welcome new team members and try to fit each person into the area of counseling that complements his or her gifts.

We base all our counseling on the Bible:

“Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In...” (Isaiah 58:12)

“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion-- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.” (Isaiah 61:1-4)
